井上陽水「メリー・クリスマス」
『ReMASTER』（リマスタリングCD17枚組BOX2001年）のうちの『extra-2』で「メリー・クリスマス」を聴いた。作詞・作曲・編曲/井上陽水 。
1976年発売のLP『クリスマス』の一曲。『クリスマス』は小室等・吉田拓郎・井上陽水・泉谷しげるの4人によるオムニバス・アルバム。
クリスマスの曲というと「お願いはひとつ」と思ってしまっていたが、この、正真正銘クリスマス・ソングがあったのだ。1976年というと、このアルバムの9ヶ月前に『招待状のないショー』が出た年。
♪今夜のパーティーにおいで 僕が綱渡りする
♪おいしいワインのついでに ほんとの僕も見れるよ
「メリー・クリスマス」と詠いながら、少しも楽しそうでない。クリスマス・ソングとして流通（？）しなかったのも、無理もないかも。鬱屈した心情、夢と現実。
昨夜はお台場のホテル一泊で同期会があった。30階からレインボウブリッジの見える夜景は、早く訪れたクリスマスのようにまばゆい。でも食事のあとも一室で夜半まで続く話は、どうも聞くには気が重い。まあ、人生半ばをとうに過ぎていれば、仕方がないのだが。自分はというと、持つものが少ないからか語るほどの悩みもない、多分。
♪長い話はもうやめ 夜も眠りたいから
♪終りのない話には さよならを言いたいだけ
彼女ら友たちが、「ハッピークリスマス」を迎えますように。
